Legacy Junior Public Speaking

The regional final of the Legacy Junior Public Speaking competition was held in Ballarat on Tuesday. Ararat College was represented by James Mullin, who competed against students from Ballarat, Bendigo, Nhill and Ouyen. Each student delivered a five minute prepared speech, on a topic of their own choosing, with themes ranging from discrimination to veganism. James speech was titled ‘Adam Goodes - An Inspiration’ and focused on the issue of racism. Students were then required to give a two minute impromptu speech, each of them speaking on the same topic - ‘A Path Worth Taking’. Congratulations to Chloe Graham and Ella McLoughlin for their first placings, in Triple Jump and Javelin respectively, at the Greater Western Region Athletics in Ballarat on Monday. Chloe jumped 9.33m to beat second place by 49 cm. Ella threw 28.40m to beat second place by 3.33m. They both qualify for the State Athletics at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park on Friday 18th October. Congratulations and best wishes to Year 12 student Ella Wood who will play for the Western Bulldogs against Collingwood in the VFLW Grand Final this Sunday. Good luck Ella!
