Legacy Junior Public Speaking

At the end of last term, year 8 student James Mullin competed in Bendigo in the Regional Legacy Junior Public Speaking Final against students from Ballarat, Bendigo, Nhill, Shepparton and Ouyen. James has already won the local final in Ararat, and on competing in Bendigo, found the level of competition had well and truly gone up a notch. After his five minute prepared speech titled “Never ’Diss’ Ability “ which was about his little brother Lachie, it was obvious that he was in with some chance and then after the delivery of his two minute impromptu speech “What Characteristics Make an Ideal Hero and Why” it was clear that the result would be close - but he was defiantly one of the favourites.

There were two winners announced along with a runner up. Nobody in the room (except maybe his mother) was surprised that James, along with Zara Clark from Nhill Secondary College, were named the winners. They will now go on to compete in the state final at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne on Monday 22 October.

Well Done and Good Luck James !
