Official Opening Ararat Wind Farm

On Tuesday 27th June I had the pleasure of escorting the AC News team, plus Georgia Jenkins and Gemma Hughes to the opening of the wind farm. It was an amazing experience because AC News got an exclusive interview with the Premier of Victoria, The Hon. Daniel Andrews. The Premier met AC News under a wind turbine before he arrived at the official opening. Even though the Premier was a little bit late, AC News anchorman Jack Ward got to ask his three questions. Jack was very calm despite the large number of press photographers who were taking his photo while he conducted the interview. We then moved to the official opening. Gemma Hughes delivered a thought provoking speech on why the environme

Congratulations to Leroy Bell, Logan Cooper, Ashley Graham (absent from photo), Ryan Heard, Blake Jamieson, Joe Jennings, Joel McNaughton, James Mullin, Flynn Toner, Bailee Turner and Darcy Woodfine on successfully retaining the trophy, and on the great spirit in which the game was played. Well done on a great win boys !

Debating Win for Ararat College

Last week the debating team travelled to Ballarat to debate against St. Patricks College in the fourth round of the debating competition. We were given our topic, which was ‘that Australia should introduce a bill of rights’, and had an hour to write our speeches. For Ararat the first speaker was April Jenkins (who did a great job in her first ever debate), second speaker was Amber Baulch, and the third speaker was Tiarna Conroy. Writing assistance came from Lauren Bowles and Georgia Jenkins. Both teams debated with all their might, and we narrowly defeated them, with Amber Baulch coming away with the best speaker award. We would like to thank Ms Nuttall and Mr Bowles for taking the time

Blue Ribbon Gala

Last Friday students volunteered to assist at the annual Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation Gala Night. It was held in our gym because of the renovations being done at the Town Hall. The evening was again an outstanding success. I was able to witness the amazing effort the committee puts into making the evening memorable through the decorations used, the yummy finger food and magnificent bands. I would like to thank the following students who helped out on the night: Georgia Jenkins, BB O’Riley, Nakia O’Riley, Sheridan O’Connor, Stephanie O’Connor and Grace Simpson. They were extremely polite, enthusiastic and did a great job!

Year 10 Visit to Federation Uni.

Last week, the year 10 students travelled to Ballarat to visit Federation. Some students went to the Trade Campus and others went to Federation Uni Campus. We got to explore the campus and learn about different courses. There was a variety of subjects to have a look at, including areas in Medicine, Sport, Drama and Science. I enjoyed going to Fed Uni and I am now even more eager to go to a University in the future.
