Ararat Community College is a secondary college based in Ararat that draws students from the Rural City of Ararat and surrounding districts. The school has 500 students and is a leader in the implementation of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in education. In 2006 we will run our new Global Classroom Project, 'The Commonwealth at Play'.
Whole school transformation through changes in pedagogy and curriculum design will improve the learning experiences for our students. This will be achieved by implementing a challenging differentiated curriculum that includes cooperative, inquiry-based learning and the integration of key learning areas.
What will happen? Each staff member will, as part of a team, teach the resident Year level in the Multi-learning Centre for a term. The staff members will work with the project facilitators / teachers to develop units of work that will utilise the technological rich environment and focus on cooperative learning and facilitate a differentiated, inquiry-based and integrated curriculum. The skills learnt will then be applied to the broader school community.
